Diversified Technique
At The Wellness Centre (Castle Quay), one of the many adjustment styles we use is referred to as Diversified Technique. Among the most popular chiropractic techniques, this hands-on approach allows us to manually adjust your spinal joints to help them move and function normally.
The Diversified Technique can be successful in helping patients of all ages get back to living the life they love naturally.
What to Expect
First, a thorough history of your problem and an analysis of your spine and surrounding muscles are performed. This can, on occasion, also involve taking X-ray pictures of your spine.
Where misaligned spinal bones and dysfunctional joints are identified, a specific manual thrust is administered. The direction, speed, depth and angle of the thrust that are used to reduce the dysfunction are the result of years of experience, clinical practice and a thorough understanding of spinal mechanics.
The energy delivered during the thrust may produce a slight ‘popping’ sound from the shifting of gas and fluids in the joint. There’s no need to worry or be frightened about this—in fact, most patients find adjustments relaxing and relieving!

A Patient Success Story
Mrs C presented to the clinic, having suffered from severe headaches for many years. The headaches had started shortly after a car accident and had been almost constant since. Medication had only temporarily and partially been of help.
After a thorough history and examination, Mrs C was diagnosed to suffer from upper cervical (neck) joint dysfunction with associated cervicogenic (coming from the neck) headaches. The Diversified Technique was used in combination with trigger point therapy of Mrs C’s upper neck region, together with advice regarding stretches to be done at home.
Mrs C came to her second appointment delighted to report that she had already noticed a significant reduction in the intensity of her headaches. After the sixth adjustment, Mrs C had stopped all pain medication, and after the eighth session, she reported no further headaches.
What sorts of conditions can this technique help relieve?
The Diversified Technique can be used for most dysfunctions of the spinal joints that cause symptoms such as headaches, neck pain, general back pain, sciatica, localised muscle spasms, referred arm pain, pain in the ribs and much more.
